INSTITUTIONAL BACKGROUND:
Jhpiego is an international, non-profit health organization affiliated with the Johns Hopkins University.
Jhpiego develops innovations to enhance the capacity of health care workers, strengthening health systems and improve delivery of care towards improving the health and well-being.
Through the Gateway Project, Jhpiego is implementing a DREAMS program, which is targeting Adolescent Girls and Young Women.
It is through the DREAMS Program that Jhpiego is implementing 4 different layers of the DREAMS Program including the Families Matter Program.
Jhpiego intends to recruit suitable and a qualified staff for the vacant position below:
POSITION: FAMILIES MATTER PROGRAM FACILITATOR
POSITION SUMMARY:
Facilitators are responsible for delivering a community-based behavioral intervention to small groups of parents/caregivers following a pre-established curriculum.
Primary responsibilities of this position include; leading discussions on sensitive topics in an inclusive manner while keeping the discussion on track and giving feedback; using tools during facilitation (e.g., audio equipment, visuals, flipcharts to record participant responses); modeling communication skills and parenting behavior; answering questions; implementing Standard Operating Procedures for responding to trauma or disclosure of Child Sexual Abuse when necessary and attending regular staff meetings and trainings throughout the project.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
√Minimum education level of a Post-secondary Certificate or Diploma in a related field
√1-2 years previous relevant work experience with families in the Malawian local communities
√Prior experience in implementing behavioral interventions
√Prior experience in facilitating to groups of adults
√Collecting and monitoring data as needed (e.g., attendance data)
√Understanding of evidence-based programming
√Familiarity with the administrative structures and knowledge of who comprises the key stakeholders in a community
√Demonstrated leadership skills
√Excellent organizational skills
√Commitment and passion for working with families to support them in raising healthy children
√Valid motor cycle license will be an added advantage.
