POSITION: TEAM LEADER – LIVELIHOODS AND RESILIENCE

 

Based in Phalombe

 

 PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To provide overall field level supervision and coordination of a team of Project Support Officers and Field Monitors ensuring the implementation of the project activities in Mangochi are of the highest quality. 

The specific objective of the project is to ensure that the targeted most vulnerable households are more resilient to food and climate change shocks through the adoption of various Risk Management Approaches with the WFP championed R4 Resilience Concept.

The project runs up to December 2018 with a possibility of extension depending on performance and availability of funds.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS:

√Provide leadership, supervision and mentorship to the Project Support Officers and Field Monitors to ensure they achieve their required targets on – Livelihoods and Resilience Project including on Insurance related components of the project

√Prepare and submit weekly/monthly/quarterly work plans

√Routinely review progress against set targets and ensure that the project focus, strategies and activities r emain relevant

√Lead the implementation of the Risk Management Approaches with the Livelihoods and Resilience Project, and strongly support other elements of the Project including the targeting, CA practices,  Food for Asset component, natural resource management, agribusiness and capacity building of the project participants

√Ensures that all  project interventions are  carried out with  full  participation of  the  community and  other stakeholders

√Carry out assessments and monitoring activities in collaboration with the Project Manager

√Work proactively with the district government departments and other local partners

√Lead on the learning, and lessons sharing with project staff, beneficiaries and other stakeholders

√Prepare relevant internal and donor reports.

 

CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE:

√Minimum of  Degree in  Agriculture, Agronomy/ Horticulture or Natural Resources Management/ Project Management, Community/Rural Development or any other related field

√4 years minimum experience in agriculture extension and development work

√Strong understanding of community-based participatory approaches

√Basic knowledge on the R4 Resilience approach and weather related insurance based products

√Experience in integrated watershed management

√Good written and spoken English, with proven experience in report righting

√Strong facilitation, communication, networking and mentoring skills

√Experience in finance and logistics management for project implementation

√Valid motorcycle riding licence.
