VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT AT BAYLOR COLLEGE OF MEDICINE CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION MALAWI (BCM-CFM)

This position is responsible for data management related activities across Baylor Tingathe Outreach program.

This includes data collection, entry, and data cleaning (data stewardship and ownership, data quality monitoring and management, standard data definitions, and data lifecycle management).

This position is based in specific Health Facilities in the districts will report to the District M&E Officer through Zonal Data Officers. At facility level this position also reports to the Site Supervisor.

Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation Malawi (BCM-CFM) is a not-for-profit organization partnering with the Government of Malawi in the health sector.

The mission is to improve the health and lives of HIV-infected children and families through high quality, high impact, ethical, state-of-the-art, comprehensive care and treatment, training of health professionals, and clinical research.

Baylor-Malawi has an international reputation for innovative, evidence-based HIV service delivery programming.

The Baylor-Tingathe program was designed in 2008 to respond to suboptimal uptake of PMTCT and pediatric HIV services In Malawi.

The program seeks to support Malawi in reaching the ambitious UNAIDS 90-90-90 goals, by improving the identification of HIV-positive persons, timely treatment initiation, and long term engagement in care.

The program is funded by USAID, and is currently operating in 7 districts in Malawi (Mangochi, Balaka, Salima, Lilongwe, Machinga, Mulanje and Phalombe)

BCM-CFM invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following positions:

 

 

POSITION: DATA CLERK

 

Contract Duration: 1 year (renewable)

Location: Mangochi, Machinga, Mulanje, Phalombe, Salima, Lilongwe and Balaka

Reporting to: Data Officer

 

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for data management related activities across Baylor Tingathe Outreach program.

 This includes data collection, entry, and data cleaning (data stewardship and ownership, data quality monitoring and management, standard data definitions, and data lifecycle management).

This position is based in specific Health Facilities in the districts will report to the District M&E Officer through Zonal Data Officers. At facility level this position also reports to the Site Supervisor.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

√Data Entry of HIV care, PMTCT and HTC data into program databases and electronic registers in a timely manner

√Maintains data entry requirements by following data program techniques and procedures

√Verifies entered data by reviewing, correcting, deleting, or reentering data; combining data from multiple sources if it is incomplete; purging files to eliminate duplication of data

√Facility supervisions and visits as outlined by M&E plan. Assist in with regular checks on M&E tools per visit guidelines

√Ensure that the facility has sufficient M&E tools and materials for capturing data

√Assist the M&E Officer and Data Officers in conducting meetings with Site Supervisors and CHWs to update them with new information related to M&E, as may be required

√Provide facility updates on a monthly basis to Data Officers

√Participate in data collection and entry for program research projects, as required

√Organize electronic and paper files in the at the facility

√Assist with preparation and correction of USAID and MOH Monthly reports

√Participate in Tingathe Monthly meeting, as directed by supervisors

√Early notification to program management of data collection or data integrity issues at the facility

√Assist with data cleaning/validation as necessary to ensure high quality data

√Helps secure information by assisting with daily data backup on the electronic database

√Participate in Quarterly, Biannual Supervisions and Data Quality Assurance exercises Involvement of data mentorship at the facility, with the lead of the Senior Data Officer

√Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes

√Any other duties as may be delegated from time to time.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

√Certificate or Diploma in computer science, IT, statistics, or any related field

√Minimum one year practical experience, working in M&E field ,planning and implementing data management system

√Capacity to produce high-quality briefs and reports in English

√Strong knowledge of the HIV/AlDS management

√Good level of proficiency in Microsoft Windows Excel and quantitative analysis

√Strong interpersonal skills

√Experience in a non-governmental organization or in USAID funded projects (desirable)

√Willingness to travel in all health facilities within the district.
