To fight the pandemic, government in March announced closed schools and banned public gatherings. But with presidential elections expected to be held this month, politicians are holding campaign rallies where social distancing is not observed.

State Vice President and Tonse Alliance runningmate, Saulos Chilima, yesterday said the alliance is poised to win the court ordered fresh presidential election, saying those currently governing should not be hoodwinked by the outcome of the nullified election.
