Wanderers u-turn on Vitumbiko Kumwenda

Maunde said they were weighing other options who can equally fit in Nomads’ set up.

“We have several cheaper options who are equally good. So we are moving forward to sign another bright talent soon,” he said. The attacking midfielder was not available for comment Friday.

Kumwenda recently told Eagles that he wanted to buyout his contract at K1.2 million after Football Association of Malawi (Fam) ordered the two parties to discuss terms of his contract.

Be Forward Wanderers have withdrawn their interest for Blue Eagles midfielder Vitumbiko Kumwenda.

Wanderers made the decision after Eagles insisted that they will sell the midfielder at K3.5 million despite remaining with a six month contract with the Nankhaka based side.

Nomads General Secretary Victor Maunde said they were considering other options as the transfer fee was prohibitive and unrealistic.

“We have decided to end our interest in Vitumbiko [Kumwenda]. We feel signing a player who is six month away from being a free agent for over K3 million is unrealistic,” he said.

Maunde said they were weighing other options who can equally fit in Nomads’ set up.
